This translation of Victorinus’ commentary on Ephesians is part of an exegetical project of the Baptist Theological Institute in Bucharest, in cooperation with the Evangelische Teologische Faculteit in Leuven, Belgium. In parallel, my collaborator, Professor Dr. Henry Drake Williams III, is working on a commented translation of the sermons of John Chrysostom (Chrysostom) on Ephesians. Together we initiated the SCER Collection, which aims to provide exegetical commentaries on the biblical books, in Romanian, in which the reader can find explanations and applications to these books, along with quotes from the Church Fathers in both Latin and Greek. The first volume in this series, Commentary on Ephesians, was already published in 2025. By translating Victorinus’ commentary on Ephesians, readers have the opportunity to connect with this profound theologian of the early Church, live, for the first time in Romanian.

Octavian D. Baban, Ph.D. (1999) at London Bible College - now London School of Theology, Brunel University (England), is a lecturer in New Testament Theology at the Baptist Theological Institute in Bucharest and director of the theological department. He studied Technological Physics at the University of Bucharest, then Biblical Theology at London Bible College. He also taught the same theological disciplines at the Baptist Theological Faculty, University of Bucharest (1998-2023) and a course in Political Theology, within a master's program at the National School of Political and Administrative Studies (SNSPA). He also taught as an associate lecturer at Tyndale Theological Seminary in Amsterdam, the Netherlands (2011-2017) and is an external collaborator of the New Testament department in biblical commentaries projects and doctoral studies, at the Evangelische Theologische Faculteit in Leuven, Belgium. As a pastor, he served as the pastor of Holy Trinity Baptist Church in Constanta (1991-1998) and of Holy Trinity Baptist Church in Bucharest (1998-2024). He has published articles and volumes on the theology and history of the New Testament and on the Greek language of the New Testament (koine). He is among those who participated in the translation and final editing of the TSB (Translation of the Bible Society) version of the New Testament, one of the major projects of the Interdenominational Bible Society of Romania (SBIR), 2005-2009.
