The volume "Parents and the school" addresses a critical problem of the Romanian school and society. The education of the younger generations remains, and rightly so, a major concern of society. We could even say that it acquires new accents in the conditions of spectacular developments in the economic, political, social, informational, communicational, scientific, etc. fields. Educational partners claim their right to get involved in school life, sometimes amplifying, ignoring or diminishing the specificity of their duties.
This volume aims to bring to the fore the attention of specialists, decision-makers, an x-ray of the situation of Romanian education and school in relation to the students' parents, in the current context marked by searches, pressures from different directions, predictable and unpredictable influences, some controllable, others not. Likewise, the studies present in the volume offer some remedial solutions that are available to educational partners, depending on the professional and decision-making skills they have.
The authors of the volume are doctors and doctoral students in the sciences of education at the University of Bucharest or prestigious collaborators from other universities in the country, established specialists or in the process of training/improvement, with titles and academic positions or didactic degrees specific to career development, some with positions of leadership in the universities they come from or in structures at various decision levels: ministry, county school inspectorates, etc., principals of colleges, high schools, schools or kindergartens. The positions they hold and the responsibilities they hold give them the privilege of knowing from the inside the issues they address through the studies integrated in this volume.
