What are the real threats of the Romanian society and how should they be remedied? What are the demographic, social, educational, medical, infrastructure problems? Are these brought to the attention of policy makers? The book tries to answer these questions using a theoretical framework extracted from the literature, but also concrete data that show the real problems of Romania on several levels. In case of crises, such as the pandemic, communities without stable community resources, with a weakened demographic, health and occupational structure cannot cope with the threat, risking to trigger large-scale negative effects both individually and community. Vulnerabilities are highlighted precisely in the case of strong crises that endanger individuals and entire communities. The problems encountered in terms of human resources, infrastructure, education, medical equipment are not new, but they have not been taken seriously enough by decision makers. These problems have worsened, and in the event of a severe crisis can lead to the collapse of the entire social edifice. The issues addressed in this book can be a topic for reflection for policy experts and policy makers in order to outline policies designed to prepare society in the event of future crises.

This book tries to bring to the readers' attention a socio-political x-ray of the Romanian society in the context of the new pandemic crisis seen through the prism of statistics and case studies. The emphasis is not only on the data processing side, but also on their interpretation and positioning in the context of the transformations of the Romanian society from 1990 until today. The composition of a picture of the Romanian society, with all its deficiencies, would lead to a better understanding of the social phenomena and helps us to decrypt those elements for the restoration of the community resources.

What is really happening in the Romanian communities? What are the real problems at the demographic, social, educational, medical, infrastructure level? Are these brought to the attention of policy makers? What are the real threats of the Romanian society and how should they be remedied? The book tries to answer these questions using a theoretical framework extracted from the literature, but also concrete data that show the real problems of Romania on several levels.

The study was born from a concern and a real need to know the true reality of society: its vulnerabilities, demographic and social threats, human capital, education, health, but also the way people relate to the political factor, political institutions , the trust they have in them and the mobilization of the population regarding the electoral participation, in voluntary associations or for petitions and protests.

To analyze the vulnerability of a system means to show certain deficiencies, weaknesses that can be remedied by looking for different solutions or methods. The importance of the book lies precisely in the fact that the analysis of social vulnerabilities brings into account this side, of the knowledge of the society in all aspects in order to highlight the real problems and to propose solutions to remedy them.

The current pandemic crisis shows exactly the community imbalance at demographic, health, educational level, etc. which has been perpetuated over time and led to a systemic and individual crisis. Problems encountered with human resources, infrastructure, education, medical equipment s.a.m.d. they are not new, but they have not been taken seriously enough by decision makers. These problems have rolled over, become more acute and in the event of a severe crisis can lead to the collapse of the entire societal edifice. How these aspects should be viewed, how the issues mentioned should be addressed so that we learn some of the lessons learned and be more prepared in the event of future crises are topics for reflection for experts and policy makers, starting from the approaches outlined in the study. face.
