Health psychology is an extremely vast field of study, with profound implications in psychological practice in all areas of human and social life. This paper aims to provide those with additional training modern landmarks in this discipline. The set of volumes entitled “Health psychology - applied approaches - includes specialized studies, signed by Romanian authors, university teachers, practitioners from health organizations, but also young aspirants to a career in health. The objective of these publications is represented by the increase of the informative capital, the updating of the information within the university curriculum, the highlighting of some Romanian, international contributions, and, especially, of the personal contributions of the authors, capitalizing the current scientific interests and practical experience.

Both the studies in the volumes published in 2010 and those that will follow aim to cover general and specific topics in health psychology. In a review of the topics we mention the following topics: the need to study health psychology, models in health psychology (eg, biopsychosocial model), body systems (nervous, endocrine, cardiovascular, respiratory, digestive, etc.), diseases and psychology (in heart disease, diabetes, congestion, brain damage, arthritis, HIV, etc.), applications in specialized subfields (psychoendocrinology, psychoneuroimmunology, psychocardiology, etc.), promoting healthy behavior (eg, maintaining a healthy diet, weight control, sleep , smoking and alcoholism - psychological, social aspects, treatment strategies), patterns of behavior change, accident prevention, behavior and severe diagnoses, such as cancer, stress and determinants, illness, personality and coping, well-being, social and family support , couple, mental balance, the role of the psychologist in the therapy of sick people, answer emotional disorders in chronic diseases (denial, anxiety, depression), techniques for controlling thoughts, emotions or other maladaptive symptoms, pain and chronic disease management, pain psychotherapy (hypnosis, guided imagery, patient distraction, etc.), quality of life, psychological intervention in chronic disease, patient education, health promotion programs, methodological aspects (evaluation, measurement of health status and countless psycho-behavioral variables), challenges of research and applications of health psychology in certain existential settings (family, clinics, organizations , etc.), use of health services, interventions in hospitals or specialized units, hospitalization of children, preparation for medical interventions, characteristics of people working in the field of health, psychologist-patient communication, patient-doctor, analysis of costs necessary to run programs health etc.


To these topics are added modern contributions: the boundaries of psycho-behavioral normality, studies of healthy personality, positive personality, psychological aspects in brain pathologies, maladaptive phenomena, mental fragility in psychosomatic disorders, studies on family and partnership dynamics, activities and therapeutic relationships, current standards of practice in the field of health psychology, etc. The intention of the publisher, but also of the authors is to continue this editorial approach in the years to come, having the will to consolidate the training of applicants for employment in the field of health, but also of those who already work in these structures.

Eugen Avram (editor) is a University Lecturer, doctor in psychology (a positive psychology thesis, at the University of Bucharest), holder in the Department of Psychology of the University of Bucharest and specialist clinical psychologist at the Emergency Clinical Hospital "Bagdasar-Arseni", Neurosurgery Section III. His specializations include (master studies): health management, cognitive-behavioral psychotherapy, organizational psychology. He also attended a series of specialization courses in management systems. He is the author and coordinator of 20 volumes in the field of health, neuropsychology, personality psychology and organizational psychology, over 20 chapters in collective volumes, 30 studies in periodicals, 3 articles in ISI journals.

Ruxandra Folostina is a university preparator. within the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences, University of Bucharest. She is the author of 17 articles and studies published in specialized journals or in the volumes of international conferences and symposia, co-author of two books in progress. Among the favorite areas of interest are autism spectrum disorders, occupational therapy for the disabled, alternative and augmentative languages, even organizing training and information sessions on these areas. Also, the academic activity also covers other fields such as: age psychology, defectology and speech therapy, child psychology.

Elena Ghizdareanu is a psychologist and school counselor, master student in educational psychology (University of Bucharest, Faculty of Psychology), involvement in research in the area of ​​couple and child psychology.

Simona Maria Glaveanu - psychologist, PhD assistant / Ecological University of Bucharest (seminars on "History of Psychology", "Social Psychology" and "Organizational Psychology"); graduate of the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences within the University of Bucharest; graduate of master's courses: "Organizational and economic psychology" / University of Bucharest and "Cognitive-behavioral psychotherapy" / "Titu Maiorescu" University; PhD student of the Romanian Academy - Institute of Psychology "Constantin Radulescu-Motru". He has professional experience in the field of school counseling. He is the author / co-author of various articles and chapters in collective volumes and has participated with works in numerous scientific events.

Alin-Sebastian Godeanu - PhD student in psychology, psychotherapist and specialist in individual and group experiential counseling, individual and group personal development, specialist clinical psychologist, skills in child, couple and family psychotherapy, educational counseling, psychopathology and social therapy, master in "Deviance, crime and social intervention" (University of Bucharest), master in cognitive-behavioral therapies (Titu Maiorescu University), training seminar in psycho-oncology (French Association for Medical Assistance of Romanians in collaboration with Salpetrière Clinic, Paris) .

Ana Maria Mintici is a psychologist and sociologist, master student in anthropology (National School of Political and Administrative Studies) and in psychodiagnosis, experiential unification psychotherapy (PEU) and personal development (University of Bucharest, Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences). Trainer in personal group development through creative-expressive therapies.

Laurentiu Mitrofan is an Associate Professor, Doctor of Psychology, Faculty of Psychology, University of Bucharest. Aurel George Mohan is a doctor, doctoral student, university preparator, University of Oradea, Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy.

Dumitru Mohan is an associate professor at the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy in Oradea, doctor in medical sciences, primary neurosurgeon and head of the Neurosurgery Clinic within the Oradea County Emergency Clinical Hospital. In 1998 he participated in the postgraduate courses "Program Planning" and "Project Management in the field of Public Health organized by UMF "Carol Davila" Bucharest and the Romanian Association of Public Health and Sanitary Management. Since 1982 he is a member of the Romanian Society of Neurosurgery, and since 2008 he is a member of the Board of this society. From 1998 until now he holds the position of president of the College of Physicians of Bihor. Since 2004 he has been a member of the Balkan Medical Union. Between 1997-2002 he held the position of general director of the Oradea County Emergency Clinical Hospital. He is the author of numerous scientific papers presented at national and international congresses, as well as five monographs.

Livia Niculae is currently a master's student at the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences, specializing in Work and Transport Psychology and a member of the ARISU association, HR department. Article published in the Journal of Organizational Psychology, volume 9, no. 1-2, 2009, pp.125-131: performance management review. Strategies for Maximum Employee Outcomes, Aubrey C. Daniels. Participation in the "Start Internship 2008" project within Altex, at national and international conferences, education and training by getting involved in various programs, workshops, trainings, etc.

Dan Florin Stanescu is a doctor in psychology at the University of Hamburg and a university lecturer at SNSPA Bucharest. He is a member of the European Health Psychology Society, his interests revolving both in applied research in the field of clinical psychology and health, and in the field of organizational psychology. His experience in the multicenter COSIP project (Children Of Somatically Ill Parents) resulted in the publication of Children of parents with acute central nervous system injuries: Assessment of mental health needs and evaluation of an innovative preventive family intervention (LAMBERT Academic Publishing, 2009). A specialist psychologist in clinical psychology and in occupational and organizational psychology, Dan has been present on the consulting market for over eight years, carrying out numerous contracts as a senior consultant in human resources management and human resources development.

Andrei Petre, Madalina Duta, Valentina Nastase are trained in clinical psychology at the Faculty of Psychology / University of Bucharest.
