In the pharmaceutical and medical field, it is necessary to permanently update the knowledge regarding the existing medicines on the Romanian pharmaceutical market. The drug memorandum provides in a clear and systematic way this information regarding the active substances used in therapy.
The increase in life expectancy in Europe, including in our country, has led to an increase in the number of elderly patients with comorbidities and polymedicine. The pressure on health systems is growing. Thus, you will be able to observe an accelerated trend in the generation of frequently prescribed medications based on clinical evidence and the recommendations of therapy guidelines. All pharmaceuticals containing the same active substance and authorized in our country are presented in the memorandum of medicines, according to the ATC classification, thus facilitating the activity of practitioners working in the field of health.
Many of the clinical treatment guidelines have been modified in recent years and highlight important advances in the field of biological therapy that address some pathologies incompletely covered from a pharmacotherapeutic point of view: neoplasm, rare diseases, autoimmune pathologies, etc. This edition of the drug memorandum includes all newly authorized drugs for use in these situations.
In the context of the SARS-CoV-2 virus pandemic, immunization against COVID-19 has been shown to protect against infection and reduce the severity of the disease if infection occurs. It also reduces the risk of hospitalization and death, decreases the risk of passing on the disease, thus protecting those around you. Also in this context, antiviral drugs or monoclonal antibodies used to inhibit viral replication or to reduce the inflammatory response generated by the cytokine explosion were urgently authorized and all these active substances are found in the 28th edition of MEMOMED.
We consider that the systematic presentation of information about medicines and about the pharmaceutical forms registered in our country are of real benefit to all those who are in the service of human health.
