Alexandru Vaida Voevod commanded the attention of historians and researchers who tried to capture his sinusoidal and enigmatic evolution in Masonic terms. That's why I considered it necessary to revise this year 2022, in which 150 years have passed since the birth of the great patriot, politician and freemason. New original documents are now added, to complete the Masonic journey of Alexandru Vaida Voevod.

The anniversary of the birth of Alexandru Vaida Voevod, as well as the Centenary of the Coronation of King Ferdinand I and Queen Maria in Alba Iulia on October 15/28, 1922, is an additional reason to reevaluate the activity and role of Freemasonry, of the Romanian Masons from the Great Union period December 1, 1918 and the Paris Peace Conference (1919-1920), which decisively marked Romania's destiny.
It is the recognition of the seal that Romanian Freemasonry placed on the country's history.

GHEORGHE BICHICEAN

Alexandru Vaida Voevod commanded the attention of historians and researchers who tried to capture his sinusoidal and enigmatic evolution in Masonic terms. That's why I considered it necessary to revise this year 2022, in which 150 years have passed since the birth of the great patriot, politician and freemason. New original documents are now added, to complete the Masonic journey of Alexandru Vaida Voevod.
Documents of the Ernest Renan Lodge from the Library of the Grand Orient of France (Bibliothèque du Grand Orient de France), the "Correspondance avec les Loges du Grand Orient de France 1900-1939" Fund; Bibliothèque du GODF carton n°179 (1916-1923) / (1924-1939) du Fonds «Correspondance avec les Loges du Grand Orient de France 1900-1939» and Grand Orient de France: Fichier de Vichy, Central Historical Archives of Romania, The County Services of Sibiu and Iasi, in the correspondence of the members of the Ernest Renan Lodge in Paris, as well as documents of the Supreme Council of the 33rd and Last Degree of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite from Romania, were already included in the previous editions (2013 and 2018). Of great interest, as a novelty, I added in this edition the interview given by Alexandru Vaida Voevod in 1941 to Laur Preda, which completes the information regarding the position of Vaida Voevod during the radicalization of the anti-Masonic movement in Romania, which can eliminate the confusion that persists about his masonic status. Also, a document from the collections of the Academy Library, which proves surprising in terms of Vaida Voevod's activity in organizing the King's Guard as a society of future freemasons. Last but not least, it is as welcome as possible in the updating of his data regarding the status of a member of the Romanian Masonic Order, an information taken from Infratirea Romanianeasca, in an issue of the newspaper from September 1929.
Consequently, I was professionally obliged to complete the research results regarding the status and Masonic course of Alexandru Vaida Voevod, with the intention of clarifying those aspects that now allow a reanalysis and a new vision of his status.
