The paper The role of the church in the contemporary Christian family is a socio-theological study of the role of the church in the Christian family. As the title suggests, it is dedicated to the Church's mission regarding the Christian family today. The topic approached in this way is of exceptional importance and topicality, but also very complex. For the family is the natural environment ordered by God in which human beings are born, grow and mature. That is why Christian education and instruction within the family are decisive for children and young people.
The paper is structured in two chapters, each chapter comprising several subchapters, appropriate to the content and research objectives assumed.
The first chapter, Theoretical considerations about the Christian family is the central and current part of the paper, both in doctrinal-theological terms and in social terms. Here are addressed the following topics: the Christian family between tradition and modernity: theological, psychological and sociological considerations; the relationship between the mission of the Church and the Christian family.
The second chapter is dedicated to a sociological survey, entitled: Sociological study on the relationship between the role of the Church and the Christian family in the current psychosocial context. This survey-study is made to highlight the relationship between religious sentiment and the moral values ​​of the Christian family, as well as to achieve a moral profile of the family. The survey aims to highlight the relationship between religious sentiment and assumed moral values, as well as highlighting differences between participants in terms of issues addressed, depending on gender, area of ​​residence, number of family members and age. The survey-study is made to orient the missionary-pastoral activity of the Church according to its results.
In conclusion, the authors summarize the content of the paper in its practical applicability regarding the situation of the Christian family in today's psychosocial context, making some pertinent recommendations for invigorating the Church's mission on the family, in the context of postmodern secular society, especially as a result of findings the sociological survey-study undertaken for this purpose.
The work is devoted to a topic of major interest for missionary and Christian life. The authors offer a work with immediate applicability for knowing the psychosocial context in which Christian families live today. In this sense it is very useful for theologians, students and priests and for all those engaged in one way or another in the mission of the Church, but also in strengthening the ecclesial and missionary consciousness.
The data and information used in the elaboration of the paper, as well as the conclusions formulated can be used by students, priests and specialists in the field, the paper can serve as a starting point for further investigations on such an important and current topic: knowledge of mission the mission of the Church regarding the Christian family, in the psychosocial context of the contemporary postmodern, secularized and globalized society.
