Russell Brand (b. 1975) is an actor, radio and television presenter, writer and activist. He started his career with stand-up comedy shows, later becoming a presenter at MTV. In 2007, he had his first important role, in the British series St. Trinian's, and a year later he played in the comedy Cheated by Sarah Marshall. In 2013, he started a collaboration with the British weekly news and political analysis New Statesman, becoming known as an activist and opinion former.
