Moderator: Assoc. Dr. Nicolae Ploesteanu
Guest: Prof. univ. Dr. Daniel-Mihail Sandru, Professor Honoris Causa of UMFST
The interview of the show "Law and order", with the topic "Perspective of digitalized university education" had as guest Daniel-Mihail Sandru, Professor Honoris Causa of UMFST, moderator being, as usual, associate professor. Dr. Nicolae Ploesteanu.
The perspectives of the digitized university education were discussed, especially in the Romanian context, considering the specialization of the guest, respectively the data protection. The use of Internet transmission resources, video conferencing has a positive facet, that of preserving thoughts, keeping them, but also inherent limitations, such as poor interaction with the public, which turns into squares, the absence of fine communication, follow-up to the speaker, not only in words but also in gestures and tone, which in the online environment, decrease significantly. These online interactions apply to both university courses and scientific conferences. The speaker in the online environment must control his gestures, words…
Digitization is a tool that affects the relationship between speakers, positive or not. Will the overdose of digitization have an effect on our lives? Here are some examples: in 2020 before the outbreak of the pandemic, the Center for European Law Studies of the Institute for Legal Research "Acad. Andrei Radulescu ”of the Romanian Academy organized in partnership with the University of Medicine, Pharmacy, Science and Technology“ George Emil Palade ”a conference - Data protection and security in digital education - in which some of the participants were in Bucharest, some in Targu Mures, without other online participants. It is just one example, about the fact that digitization in the scientific environment was necessary without the intervention of these extraordinary event, the pandemic. Meanwhile, individualism has grown, each speaker is in front of his own tool for transmitting his thoughts, in his own "square". The use of technology was made in other years, but not on the scale of now, by eliminating contact between people. After the pandemic, the use of the Internet will decrease, but technological resources will be used. People are not made to transmit information, which is not the most important because they are present everywhere, the debate of ideas is very important.
Discussions cannot be too elaborate in the online environment, face-to-face discussions, by their nature, are suitable for the human being. Personally, in a pandemic, the guest only participated in the mandatory online conferences, whether there is a tradition of that conference or there is a legal obligation to participate. The most interesting participation was at the Summer Theater, at the series of conferences organized by Prof. Raul Felix Hodos within ISLS 2020. In the online environment, the participants were transformed into users (who are used in algorithms) and must returns to the useful discussion of research.
There was a discussion about dialogue and the need for research to be disseminated. The dialogue must be maintained by people who have skills in this regard, the dialogue being like a fire, the conferences must be followed by the written word, the video aspect not being enough.
Research and education benefit from video conferencing but in different measures. Research through the use of debate can be profitable for participants, sometimes the transmission of information is the purpose of the meeting. In the field of education, the transmission of information must be done so that students understand.
The use of the internet has a clear, pertinent purpose, with a participating public, the result will be able to remain. Everyone, students and teachers, online or not must be the messengers of the idea of a job well done.
