Laura Butaru is a full professor of pedagogy at the National Pedagogical College Ștefan Odobleja in Drobeta Turnu-Severin and a PhD university lecturer, associated at the University of Craiova - Department of Teacher Training.
She has held managerial positions in pre-university education, currently being the director of the school unit.
She is a member of the MEC working group for school curriculum and evaluation, for the pedagogical profile within the vocational sector, founder and currently a member of the Board of Directors of the National Association of Pedagogical Colleges and High Schools in Romania.
