Alcoholic liver disease is a public health problem worldwide and that the subject treated in this volume is of great interest. The author, Dr. Diana Lupu, deepened the problem so that the specialist gastroenterologist and the research done on this issue in the doctoraturii.

Doctoral thesis was later continued this work has resulted in two monographs on alcoholic liver disease and steatohepatitis but soft. Additionally, Ms. Lupu Dr. Diana is about to complete a master on managerial aspects of hospital services.

The present volume follows the two areas of training (medical specialty training in itself and problems managed) and therefore we believe will be useful to all medical categories.

The paper "Management of quality of care provided for patients with alcoholic liver disease", developed by Dr. Diana Laura Ms. Lupu, the author highlights concerns for scientific research in an important area of ​​economic and social life - health services. Grouped under the generic name of health, these services are aimed at ensuring the health, maintenance and repair labor capacity, and thus deeply involved in creating the material conditions of existence of man, in raising the quality of life, because health is entwined with economic growth and with sustainable development.

Starting from the idea that any investment in the health sector, designed to improve the quality of services provided to patients, will provide major benefits for the economy as a whole, the paper presents the mechanisms of functioning of health services and are highlighted multiple meanings of quality of Health factors involved in ensuring their quality and competitive demands management of hospital units.

Following the evolution of society in the plane of knowledge, penetration of technical progress in all spheres of economic and social conception of hospital acquired new dimensions in parallel with the development of its operation and increasing complexity of care provided. Hospital today has become a strategic factor of therapeutics and medical education, because in such an institution, professionals have access to diagnostic equipment and experience and contacts with other professionals, relationships critical to scientific progress.

The introduction in clinical practice the concepts of quality assurance, continuous quality improvement and total quality management is a separate component of hospital reform in Romania. Continuous improvement and increased efficiency of care, beyond that is a prerequisite for the survival of medical units, consisting primarily important means to control health care costs.

Since the primary objective of reform is to improve hospital quality of care offered to insured and efficient access to them all population categories, including the disadvantaged, one of the main goals of the work we are providing practical solutions to management problems related to quality, and thus the efficiency of health services provided by a hospital organization.

Because alcoholism is currently a high incidence and prevalence, raising a major public health problem in the paper are presented the latest achievements in the management of patients with alcoholic liver disease as a result of scientific research undertaken by the author, and practice its clinical.

By addressing particularly complex pathology of the liver, the work is necessary, once again, as an urgent necessity, particularly for specialty medical practice.

Awareness of special health services with society and their contribution to quality of life, must determine the increased concerns for improving the quality of work done in the health sector.
