The book presents and debates the situation of the deeply disadvantaged rural areas in Romania, as well as their intelligent development. To make a small parenthesis, it is not only addressed to the Romanian space, as it proposes methods of surprise and treatment for underdeveloped areas. Thus, it presents two perspectives: the one in which those deeply disadvantaged rural areas are determined and the second part, which includes the way in which those areas can be developed. The complexity of rural issues is a topic that geographers have under observation, identifying types of problems they face. With the technological progress and the circulation of information flows to which the urban population has access, the rural space begins to show a lack of interest for the actors that could maintain them. I say to keep them, because the global trend is that, mainly, we find the inhabitants in the urban environment. Of course, in this situation the gap tends to increase even more between administrations and, implicitly, between the standard of living in the same society.
The book contains, in addition to the appropriate methodology, the intervention tools at the territorial level through which the three factors, namely the population, the business environment and the management institutions, could create the premises for a long-term development of such areas. In order to be able to determine the problem of a community as well as possible, all the "hassles" of the rural space must be analyzed transversally and longitudinally. Without this interpretation, no solid foundation can be laid for how the case should be resolved.
I believe that this paper offers the reader, but also the central authorities, a tool through which they can determine these deeply disadvantaged rural areas, on the one hand, and on the other hand offers case studies according to the identified local peculiarities, for theirs intelligent development.
