Their scientific staff homiletical speech intensified over time. Orthodox preachers carefully observing the phenomenon, first as a mere participant in the religious (theology students), then with another vision, inside the priesthood, he has appeared ever more convinced that to achieve the desired level of efficiency this fascinating branch of public discourse is not enough to climb the pulpit and just rant a teaching, a message that people absorb it (by virtue of tradition, indeed ancient, but not effective by itself) regardless the structure and form of presentation. But regardless of a particular contextual immediate reporting with multiple coordinated that it entails. We need, certainly, much more.
To be really convincing message across Christian preacher must realize the implications of decisive, to detail the whole communicative process taking place between him and receives his speech. It is therefore to identify an element of the sermon character dialogue, reciprocity was. In this respect, coordinates psychological and social recovery - specific cultural framework in which the communicative act homiletic is one of the decisive factors of success.Reconsideration of traditional church oratory methods (considered by some, not entirely unjustified, outdated), without abandoning the principles hristico - apostolico - omileticii patristic foundation of Christian, new discursive communication strategies according to the complexity of the psycho-sociological realities we serve today (with a better knowledge of them), can be the starting point in an effort to guide to new directions homiletic discourse performative, more efficient in the context of contemporary Christian pastoral care.
However, in our research we found it necessary to take guidance of wise principles set by our ancestors Latin: non nova, sed nove. Presenting things differently, seeing them yourself otherwise, is, ultimately, a viewpoint that is often more solid than innovative approaches at all costs. Given the immutability of dogma biblical preaching is the ideational background, ministry of ecclesial substance remains the same, which does not prevent the presentation methodology is continuously open to innovation and efficiency. I therefore consider that, especially in terms of reporting to the audience and, accordingly, the form of presentation, sermon today needs a revival (a reinvention, in the positive and responsible of the word) that would bring greater adherence to the contemporary audience, coming from all walks of life and subject to cultural influences of the most heterogeneous. This is done first by deepening the communicative dimensions - interpersonal homiletic discourse and, consequently, by adapting methods to the specific expressive concrete human reality of receivers. To this end, the sermon is called to discover new resources and ways to establish communication bridges with society today, and in particular, with each person. This is the main reason we decided to investigate Homiletics FROM A SPEECH COMMUNICATION SCIENCES, convinced that the scope and relevance of current research in this area strongly emerging on the academic scene and also on the social occasion may present significant improvements homiletic practice.
Theoretical and research stage of the subject
As research shows, and theme, our approach focuses on two distinct areas, although many elements in common, have not been addressed so far, the interdisciplinary vision. Although, in essence, preaching is an act of public communication, the transmission of messages or teachings of a religious doctrine, which requires, under a basic epistemological ordinances, classical analysis of the factors a communication process (sender, message, recipients , or specific language code, channel, extralinguistic context, feedback, etc..), homiletic speech was not treated at the level of scientific papers from this perspective. Other types of public discourse (media, administrative, political, legal, educational, philosophical, etc..) Have been reported in communication theory, published in various studies in the area of communication and public relations, mass communication, human resources management, the etc. rhetoric.
For example, oratorical speech, closest to our research, already have significant scientific contributions that focus the theoretical principles and analytical uses of science communication. Various treaties and rhetoric courses newest show, in varying degrees, communicative dimension of discourse, an essential factor of persuasion. Must point out however, that their number is very large. Then, most of them yield to the temptation to belittle the venerable masked benefit dicendi burned, obnubilând, theoretical challenges for the latest current status rhetorical matrix that art has for great public arena of human communication. The good we were, for the purposes of returning it axiological, Little treaty oratory of Professor Constantin Sălăvăstru Iasi, a compendium updated with the latest studies of rhetoric, style, psychology and communication theory. Large teaching strict work than classical oratory (although it capitalizes on the structure), caching the complexity spectrum of contemporary discourse. Acknowledging some limitations inherent in our coverage in the approach to literature, I consider that the merits of scientific development and its horizon amplitude analytical work mentioned is a landmark in the field so fully investigated and discursive communication coveted today. However, a necessary and thorough update applied theoretical heritage of classical rhetoric in the context of interdisciplinary science today that cultivates with justified enthusiasm.
In terms of homiletics textbooks and treaties, they have systematically composition rules and supporting religious speeches, but in traditional manner, uniparadigmatică, adopting basically the same structure: Getting started with the genesis and historical evolution of the phenomenon homiletic Christian foundationof biblical and traditional gender classification and description of specific skills used homiletic, methodology development and support of sermons, speeches, religious models. We note, however, that given a small space analysis related to the character elements typical conversation of Christian homily, discursive psychology, communication, interpersonal communication with listeners, the preacher's communicative behavior (verbal, but especially nonverbal), psychology receptivity, homiletic communication effects depending on the feedback (generally, all received the preacher as 'response' - reaction from his listeners and, especially, how to performativity is influenced by the response), or contextual influence weight situation of speech communication, etc.
Homiletics textbooks, and even university courses, chapter dealing specifically with elements of communication is devoted listeners that aspect of rhetorical practice which the ancients have called actio (and sometimes pronuntiatio), referring to the whole complex communicative actions (para verbal and nonverbal, vox et gestus) which uses the preacher in his speech. Very limited space devoted to this crucial dimension homiletic and inconsistent treatment of them in the literature, but findings on the ground ", the direct observer of many benefits of gender, I have realized the need to exploit its potential communicative perspective practice, prompting me to him the central importance in research.
Should be clear that area bibliography rhetoric (and discursive practice in general) have not work with direct relevance to the theme proposed by us.Romanian homiletical literature meet a few studies that deal with this issue, in a way, we believe, partial and insufficient applied context: Anatoly Zarea, "Sermon and her listeners" in the journal Theological Studies, No.5-6, eighteenth year (1966), pp.358-374, Sebastian Chile, "current homiletic considerations", the magazine Orthodoxy, No. 1, year XIX (1967), pp.65-79; Vasile Cretu, "Communication in the sermon" in Orthodoxy, No.3-4, since LV (2004), pp.161-197 and John Toader, "The Homelite à l'received by the Lumière des sciences of communication", the scientific annals of Orthodox Theology Faculty of the University of Babes- Bolyai, 2008.
In continuation of these studies may be mentioned, all as a starting point for further analysis, the reference to "communication with listeners" that Father Basil Gordon professor makes in his Introduction to Homiletics (Bucharest University Press, 2001). Considering rightly preached an act synergistically, dialogue, characterized by a "simultaneous collaboration and communication" (p.183 et seq.), The author proposes a three communicative process that you must address the preacher: with God, first , then himself and listeners. The same model, the three major coordinated adaptation in preaching are: adaptation to Orthodoxy, the listeners and their personality. In this respect, Chapter "personality sermon preacher and listeners" with subsections "sermon listeners in general" and "listeners paraenesis" (pp.183-188) reflects the awareness of which has specific elements of the situation in speech communication and interactional atmosphere.Those observed in a fair complaint centrality communicative principles economy homiletic process. We can say that they really are moving to a more applied approach to communication concepts in the context preachers.
As can be seen from the above selection of bibliographic guidance, our initiative to treat the homiletic discourse in terms of communication sciences continues, at least at national level, the line of news analysis kerigmatic Christian phenomenon.It sucks, of course, the status of absolute innovation. However, such a vision sermon study is, consider us essential, why not boost the regeneration of homiletics today is visible need. As stated by the famous axioms American school in Palo Alto, any human expression has communicative value and therefore non-communication is impossible. Here, therefore, a first starting point.At a closer investigation of the homiletic process in all its complexity, we find that he has much more profound and communication resources only allowed to observe at first sight. Therefore, we believe that an analysis of communication mechanisms intrinsic homiletic act will mark a new stage in perception and approach of this kind of discursive manifestation, present and active, in fact, a strong in Romanian society.
Present study aims to identify and analyze potential communicative elements of pulpit discourse. It will make research results in science communication, in order to identify the communicative function of each component of ecclesiastical rhetoric. More specifically, we want to show that everything he says and does the pulpit preacher communicate something of the appearance in the pulpit and with the first eye contact you establish with the audience and continued with his first statement and record every detail of his behavior and nonverbal until the speaker leaves the place where he delivered his speech, can be decoded messages and plurivalence considerable diversity. To this end:
- We highlight the position and importance in the vast field of discourse homiletic public oral communication;
- Will be presented and analyzed concepts church rhetoric and homiletic elements specific discursive practice, in light of the fundamental principles of communication and rhetoric, described in the literature;
- The homiletic practice perspective, we show that the essential condition of its engine efficiency preachers approach is persuasive in interpersonal relationship established between the preacher and his hearers. All parameters of this relationship will be analyzed systematically and duly.
In addition to filling a gap in the literature, research theme we propose is intended as a source of information theory, addressed specific areas, but especially one as useful and practical communication guide for those who are tasked homileticstransmitting the Christian message of the contemporary world.
The methodology used was the observation of the phenomenon homiletic form, made over several years, the parish plan homiletic practice, both in terms of internal and external. Also, based on short interviews with various preachers, sermons and speeches of these receptors, we prepared surveys we have valued the work, not both quantitatively and especially qualitatively. Watching a number of sermons recorded audio and video we have been very useful in collecting research data we needed. Appropriating our prospects in the area proposed studies and pragmatics psihosociologiei communication, it can be deduced with relative ease that I focused mainly homiletic exercise actually register, considering it most relevant to our research. Perspectiva strictly linguistic textualistă already been adopted, with jurisdiction by other researchers philologists.
