The current edition of the "Manual of the technique of therapeutic massage and complementary physiotherapy" - revised and completed, is a reference editorial, a reality proven both by the need for professional information in the field and by the presentation of the correlation "therapeutic massage - physiotherapy ”. Mr. Anghel Diaconu, with an experience in the field of over 45 years, approached this topic with scientific, didactic, theoretical and practical value, distinguished by its pragmatism.
In 2008, Mr. Anghel Diaconu transfers for the first time his entire professional and didactic experience in the pages of a work of this type. The manual covered the gap in the medical literature, both in our country and in other countries and proved to be of remarkable utility in training and improving the application of therapeutic massage for a significant number of practitioners, from physiotherapists - post-secondary level classic or special, to physiotherapists in the university register, residents and specialists.
This first appearance was requested by an extremely important number of specialists, beneficiaries of the complex information with applicative character regarding the therapeutic massage.
The manual, according to the Order of the Minister of National Education no. 5455 / 18.10.2010, is mandatory for the preparation of all those who will practice massage, regardless of the level of education, because it corresponds to the analytical program for all schools with training in the field.
Following the requests, the Medical Publishing House published the second edition of the "Therapeutic Massage Technique Manual", revised and completed. Also, the publishing house of the Romanian Academy of Scientists approves and publishes in a short period the paper entitled Treaty (editions III - VII and IX).
The Association of the Blind in Romania, at the request of its members who are preparing and carrying out their activity in this field, published the "Manual" in the Braille alphabet.
At the same time, in the USA were published, as a Treaty and as a Manual, in English, Italian and Romanian, numerous editions: VIII, X, XI, etc., by publishers from Columbia (SC), Charleston (SC ), Middletown (DE) and Lexington (KY), distributed through Amazon.
Craiova University Publishing House publishes the 13th edition of the paper, entitled Manual of Therapeutic Massage Technique and Complementary Physical Therapy.
Bucharest University Publishing House publishes the 14th, 20th, XXII and XXXIV editions of the paper, as a manual.
The presented works, including the present one, keep a part of the structure and content of the first appearance, update the themes and bring technical and scientific added value, through the vision of new presentation, through the development of topics in correlative context - "therapeutic massage and associated physiotherapy".
The historical context and the current reality of the European platform regarding the training of different specialists from the recovery group, require continuous professional training (long life learning). Physiotherapy, which requires regular updating of information, is fully responsible for this goal, in order to have a good correspondence between the theoretical and practical aspects of vocational training at national level and in accordance with the level of training in the European platform. In this context, other publications on therapeutic massage were sporadic and insufficient as a basis for information and training for the specialist practitioner of balneophysiotherapy and massage or balneo-physiokinetotherapy and massage, so that the appearance of this work was extremely timely, finding both its place. as well as utility.
The paper covers an important area of theoretical and practical training needs for the specialist of Balneophysiokinetotherapy, Physiokinetotherapy and Kinetotherapy, by structuring the material, by detailing the methodologies for applying different categories of therapeutic massage procedures with the association of a rich illustrative material.
The content of the Manual is logically structured, initially with specific aspects related to the infrastructure of the physical medicine sector, respectively therapeutic massage and associated physiotherapy, continued with the general principles that guide the activity of staff in the therapeutic massage sector.
Through the presentation and organization of chapters, methodologies, notions and technical procedures, the content of the Manual covers the training and improvement requirements of specialists in the field, while corresponding to the analytical program on therapeutic massage indicated as a therapeutic method, in the context of recovery programs. or in prophylactic programs. Through the content, readers receive information on the particularities of different topographic areas, become progressively familiar with the physiological and pathophysiological aspects of the tissues and organs on which massage maneuvers are exercised, learn to follow the physiological and therapeutic effects of different forms of therapeutic massage and find, in the applicative way, the justification of the correlations between the therapeutic massage and the associated kinetotherapy.
Chapter I presents essential criteria for selecting people who want to become masseurs. Also, the basic notions that any person who wants to practice this profession and - further - the conditions and endowment of the massage room must be presented.
In Chapter II, the author Anghel Diaconu classifies and details in a structured way the technique of performing therapeutic massage maneuvers.
Chapter III contains the general recommendations regarding the technique of correctly performing the methodologies of therapeutic massage maneuvers, the anatomophysiological and topographic description of each region, as well as the technique of performing each massage maneuver on each area and on each region of the body.
Chapter IV presents the technique of general massage, which is a synthesis of massage by region. The author insists on the observance of the neighborhood reactions, considering the muscular-vascular-nervous package and the deep organs, on the local or neighborhood algic and trophic particularities and on the particularities of non-specific somatic and psycho-behavioral reaction.
Chapter V presents the conditions and technique of performing massage on children (babies) by parents and / or by masseurs.
The following is the role of therapeutic massage in increasing the effectiveness of treatment with lymphatic, reflex and sports massage.
I appreciate and consider (because they are welcome and necessary) the following chapters, presented by top personalities in the medical field, which complete the technical-scientific and practical notions in the field, necessary in the complex training of people who will practice this therapy, to render the state of health of those in suffering.
Chapter VI presents massage - particular techniques.
Chapter VII describes the technique of massaging the patient sitting on a chair.
Chapter VIII presents the therapeutic massage - the basic procedure in recovery, medical evaluation, indications and contraindications of this therapy.
Chapter IX presents the role of massage in the therapy of neurological and rheumatic diseases.
Chapter X contains corrective exercises to balance the tone of the muscles, as well as to increase the mobility of the joints, performed by the therapist in collaboration with the patient.
Based on this paper with a clearly presented content, coherently structured and convincingly illustrated, both theoretical presentations and practical works such as comparative demonstrations, application exercises, case studies, analysis of situations on different categories of pathology, customized on case. The work can be the basis for acquiring competencies and abilities imposed by the training standard for a good quality professional offer. It has an applicative character, covering a need for information and corrective exercise in the field of physiotherapy, as a specific offer of non-pharmacological therapy. It is also worth noting the novelty aspect for the international specialized literature.
The paper is written after a long experience of knowledge and application of those presented, being the result of professional sequential accumulation, both in the area of therapeutic application and in the area of education.
