All generations use an almost magical phrase when talking about young people. "They are different!" After all, it wasn't like that in our time! We should only think about the technologies and devices around us and that would be enough. But careful historians come and tell us that many things were the same in our time, that both heroism and lawlessness were present, that people were equally or perhaps more emancipated, just as bold or fearful. The world is actually a film that is largely repeated, but it is also a space where changes over time make us the same and different.
It is certain that the world around us has changed and is changing. This is obvious when we look at the technological discoveries to which we have begun to have increasing access. If we think only of the devices we have with us everywhere today, these differences will seem sensational to us. 25 years ago, the only device we had on us was a common watch. But still, do human nature, our values and principles change as quickly? In my opinion, a society that does not change is at its sunset, but one that changes its beliefs with each generation is a society that has not been born yet.
How I see the world around me was a question that a distinguished teacher was inspired to ask her students. How I see some young people not very out of adolescence the world in which they live is a harder question than it seems to us. Of course, many of these young people see the world through the eyes of their parents, with the glasses or with the magnifying glass of their teachers, many see it with good and bad as this society is presented today on television or online. It is normal for young people to take on the role models in the society in which they were formed and to want those values around which they grew up. However, each generation still has something different from those before them. There is always more hope, more enthusiasm, more passion and less blasphemy.
Young people tend to have a greater purity in their eyes, a more defiant attitude in the face of obstacles, blockages, social evil.
For this reason, societies can develop, because they not only preserve their values and principles, but also always look for new ways that make the nation move forward.
It is obviously a challenge for any young person to write an essay about how he or she sees the world. I think that an even bigger challenge is for those who are no longer young to see and understand how the representatives of Romania's future elite see the world today. I think it is more important for us to see Romania in the present through the eyes of those who will build the present of our future. This is to be able to understand where we can go, what we can hope for and how we can help them today so that they can aim and build and that, sometime in the future, they too will watch over their young generations. who may also wonder how they see the world around them.
The effort of Mrs. Silvia Osman to complete such a project, to work with hundreds of students who gathered around her and this idea is especially appreciated.
This volume, at the end of the reading, will certainly give you the feeling that the future is better than the impression cultivated publicly today, this collection of essays will be for some of you the oxygen balloon you needed, the glasses of enthusiasm and courage that sometimes we the older ones lost them.
I warmly recommend an attractive, invigorating and much more reflective reading than you would have the impression at first sight. Alfred Bulai
