A certainty of the contemporary world is the fact that geography, which studies the geographical environment and human-environment relations, has become a discipline of contact and interference, both with natural and social sciences, a science of synthesis and information, with a fundamental application role.
Economic geography is a main branch in the system of geographical sciences, which studies the economic potential of the geographical environment, following its differences and particularities at regional and planetary level.
This paper is a synthesis of the major aspects that characterize the demographic and natural resources of the Earth, in the context of the spectacular transformations of the XXI century.
