Modern civilization today is facing a great challenge in finding practical methods, the most effective development support through a shift in patterns of use of natural resources to ensure both progress and prosperity on a longer time horizon in other words, a future where people live in communion with nature.

If the tourist reception facilities do not take urgent measures to mitigate the negative impact on the environment, biodiversity and local communities where they operate, their life cycle will be very short, significant damage and irreversible damage.

Today, tourism is a major phenomenon worldwide, characterized by a strong dynamism. From highlighting current issues relating to sustainable development, the paper stresses the need and opportunity to implement new methods of environmental management in the hospitality business and international experience highlights the use of such systems. All activities from the hotel location and facilities to the tourist attitude towards the environment, can and must be conducted in a sustainable future through proper management. Location of hotel unit has different effects on the environment, lower neighborhood access roads or major conurbations, larger and very large green areas in protected areas. The attitude towards the environment, although extremely difficult to quantify, is negative and sharp enough in the long run. There are concerns and even to mitigate negative impacts, such as educating and involving local communities in environmentally responsible actions, measuring and reducing various forms of pollution (waste management, water and energy consumption reduction, etc.).. Under these conditions, implementing a management system for eco-hotel units at each hotel would feature print industry sustainability, environmental responsibility.

And in Romania there are concerns for the purposes of implementing eco-management systems, but these are only first steps. The fact that only three units at the national profile, respectively Crowne Plaza Hotel Bucharest, Hotel Vega in Mamaia seaside resort and hotel in town with the same name Saturn from the Black Sea, used in their work with high technology supports reduced pollution appreciation on the slow pace of change in attitude towards the environment.
