Editura Universitara

Established 25 years ago (2001), Editura Universitară is a scientific publishing house that has established itself on the Romanian book market through the high academic standing of its publications dedicated to education, science, and culture as a whole. We edit and publish individual and collective volumes, books, courses, theses, proceedings, treatises, monographs, and journals mainly in Romanian but also in English, French, German, and Turkish.

Most of the works published by us are university books, following collaborations with professors and researchers from the most important universities in Romania, according to the Top 10 University Metaranking 2026

Editura Universitară Publishing House's publications appear both in print format (www.editurauniversitara.ro) and in ebook format (www.ebookuri.ro).
The publishing house's portfolio includes 14 journals. We publish journals in the fields of Philology, History, Theology, Law, Geography, Communication, Economics, Psychology, Child Protection. Most of them are produced in collaboration with Universities, Institutes, research centers and are indexed in international databases. Among them, we mention: Diversité et Identité Culturelle en Europe / Diversity and Cultural Identity in Europe (DICE), Jurnalul Teologic, Timotheus - Studii și cercări Teologice, Revista Forumul Judecătorilor, Revista de Drept Penal. The collection is coordinated by Prof. univ. dr. Mihai ŞANDRU.

Our works are distributed through our own online bookstore, www.editurauniversitara.ro, as well as other bookstores also managed by us, but hosted on the eMag (emag.ro/edituris/editurauniversitara) and Cel.ro (cel.ro/carti/editura universitara) platforms.

We distribute/sell books in approximately 30 online bookstores (https://www.editurauniversitara.ro/parteneri), as well as in physical bookstores, practically we work with all relevant distributors in the country such as: Compania de Librării București, Cărturești, Librarium Grup, Libris Brașov S.A., Librăriile Humanitas, Libris Iași, Librăriile Hamangiu, Librăriile UJMag, Bookzone.

We constantly participate in the main book fairs in Bucharest and in the country: Bookfest International Book Fair, GAUDEAMUS International Book Fair, Gaudeamus Caravan, Librex National Book Fair (Iași), Education Fairs organized by Universities.
Editura Universitară Publishing House is a member of the Romanian Publishers Association (AER) (www.aer.ro)
Editura Universitară established, in 2017, the "CORNELIU TURIANU" AWARD, in memory of Prof. Dr. Corneliu Turianu. The award is awarded every year for the best specialized book published in the Legal and Administrative Sciences collection, at the University Publishing House.

We own an ultra-modern printing house, capable of publishing a book every 5 minutes in excellent graphic conditions (www.editurauniversitara.ro/tipografia-euprint).
This endeavor is supported by editors, proofreaders, and graphic designers who work here. We only print works that appear under the aegis of the University Publishing House and we do it with seriousness and responsibility.

In the country

We are constant participants in book fairs and, therefore, we also sell directly. We also have our own point of sale at our headquarters (Bd. Nicolae Bălcescu no. 27-33, Sector 1, Bucharest)

Our books are also distributed abroad by Humanitas, Libris SA, Cărturești Bookstores, through their foreign delivery departments. In e-book format, our books are sold on the ebookuri.ro website.(https://www.ebookuri.ro/?s=editura+universitara&post_type=product)

EVALUATION PROCEDURE
The author(s) send the manuscript, a presentation, two recommendations for publication, the CV and a declaration on their own responsibility that the work is original and belongs to them, to the address [email protected] or [email protected].
The general secretary of the editorial office takes the work and, depending on its field, assigns it to a book editor. He/she passes it on to the internal plagiarism program. If the report indicates a small percentage of similarity (less than 14%), the book enters the review process. If the report is higher than the standards imposed by the publishing house, we return to the author with the report, to verify and cite all the sources highlighted in the report or publication is refused.
The editor, together with the editorial director, the collection coordinator, carries out an editorial evaluation depending on the impact of the work, the target group of readers, the evolution of the book market, the method of promotion and dissemination, the name of the author(s). As part of this evaluation, the possible circulation, publication costs and their coverage are also established.
If the proposed work meets the aforementioned technical and administrative editorial criteria, it proceeds to peer-review evaluation in which the editor, upon the recommendation of the scientific coordinator of the collection, submits the manuscript to two of the publishing house's external referees competent in the thematic area of ​​the manuscript. The evaluation we perform is of the blind peer-review type. The referees analyze the work and write a comprehensive evaluation report (1-5 pages) that concludes by completing an evaluation form with specific items such as:
Field of application
Quality of the scientific content of the material
Degree of originality and novelty of the topic
Relevance and impact on the field
Methodology used
Current bibliography
Reliability of documentation and clarity of formulation
Scientific content
Quality of editing and expression
Compliance with editing standards
Following the evaluation, it is proposed:
Acceptance of the manuscript for publication without changes
Acceptance of the manuscript for publication with revisions (proposals are written on a separate page)
Rejection of the manuscript
In case the reviewers have divergent opinions, the Publishing House requests the opinion of a third reviewer.
After receiving the peer-reviewed evaluation papers, the editor presents the report to the series/collection coordinator and the editorial director, then notifies the author(s) of the observations derived from the evaluation.
Following the author/authors' acceptance to make the requested changes, they will return with the improved material, which will be checked by the editor and sent for proofreading and editing.

Throughout the review process, both the author/authors and the referees are anonymized.

Of the works proposed annually for editing, approximately 35% are refused for editing or the authors do not make the changes indicated by the referees.

The editing contract is concluded, stating that the author/authors assume responsibility for the content of the work, for the images and other visual elements for which they have permission to insert them, presenting the publishing house with the supporting documents.
